Notts County and 10-man Luton had to be content with a point a piece on the final day of the season after fighting out an entertaining goalless draw. Goalless draws are usually drab affairs but this was nothing close to that as goal scoring opportunities and slick build up were in plenty.
With more than 4,000 vociferous fans backing them, the promoted Hatters looked lively early on with Olly Lee forcing Collin into a great save with a powerful pile-driver.
The hosts, already guaranteed of a play-off place, had their moments with Jon Stead having a shot deflected behind for a corner while James Shea also saved from Jorge Grant.
The Magpies’ hopes of a victory were boosted early in the second half when Danny Hylton picked up a second yellow card for a foul on Shaun Brisley.
Despite the numerical disadvantage, the Hatters kept trying to find a breakthrough with Stacey coming close following a rapid counter attack. And only a fantastic last-ditch tackle from Matt Tootle denied Ruddock-Mpanzu from making the breakthrough at the expense of a corner.

In what was one of the shock result of the weekend, the Benitez’s men slipped to a third successive defeat at Watford, who ensured their Premier League survival thanks to first-half goals from Roberto Pereyra and Andre Gray.
Pereyra ended his side’s run of three matches without a goal after just two minutes when he slotted home Abdoulaye Doucoure’s neat reverse pass.
Star-player, Ayoze Perez did pull a goal back in the 55th minute but, despite all their second-half dominance, Newcastle could not find the equaliser. Notably, the score line could have been more damaging as Captain Troy Deeney had a golden chance to make it 3from the spot, but Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka was equal to both Deeney’s penalty kick and the resulting rebound after Paul Dummett had brought down Gray in the box.
The Newcastle’s players looked as if they were already on holiday in the first half of Saturday’s defeat at Watford, sentiments which were echoed by their manager in his post-match interview.
With both teams relatively safe and with nothing realistic to chase, we went for a stalemate as our 1st pick. Based on home advantage, we gave hornets a straight win in our second pick and it proved accurate.

JJ Hooper’s second-half hat-trick handed Grimsby a comfortable victory at Forest Green on the final day of the League Two season.
Hooper broke the deadlock on 51 minutes when he stretched to touch the ball over the line.
He grabbed his second on 83 minutes with a sumptuous angled strike and six minutes later completed his treble with a powerful finish from 25 yards.
Grimsby, who have gone unbeaten in their final five games of the season, finish the season in 18th place while Forest Green have ended up 21st in the table.
Forest Green created the better first-half chances but found Grimsby keeper James McKeown in fine form as he denied 25-goal striker Christian Doidge, a Scott Laird free-kick and a Charlie Cooper header.

Nathan Redmond’s second-half goal gave them the lead at Goodison and saw them move up a place on goal difference. Winger Redmond nodded Cedric Soares’ cross past Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford in an otherwise subdued contest which saw Southampton’s Maya Yoshida sent off for two fouls.
Everton, who stay eighth in the table, were booed at the final whistle of their final home game of the season, and the result means they can no longer overhaul seventh-placed Burnley who have qualified for the Europa League.
However, the toffees almost made their numerical advantage as it took a vital save by Alex McCarthy to turn away Leighton Baines’ goal-bound free-kick before Davies’ strike deflected in off Wesley Hoedt in added time.

Kosovan Nuhiu opened the scoring on 14 minutes with a far-post header before Fernando Forestieri doubled their lead.
In two second-half minutes, Frederico Venancio scored before Nuhiu rolled his second into an empty net after keeper Angus Gunn spilled in a collision.
Norwich got one back with Timm Klose’s left-foot finish, but Nuhiu had the last word from the penalty spot.
Canaries head coach Daniel Farke was forced into an 11th-minute change when key 14-goal playmaker James Maddison, who was deservedly named in the PFA Championship team of the season, went off after receiving lengthy treatment.

Sheffield United held off a second-half fightback from Bristol City to end their Championship season with a win.

Aden Flint headed in Josh Brownhill’s corner to give the hosts a lifeline and Joe Bryan’s curled home a fine free-kick to make it 3-2.
Lee Johnson’s side pushed on for a late leveler but the Blades held out to finish 10th in the table.
Both teams had still been in contention for a play-off place until last week but went into Sunday’s game with only pride at stake.
Chris Wilder’s side stunned the hosts with three goals in the opening 34 minutes, with Freeman’s volley the pick of the bunch.

QPR offered little threat throughout and could have conceded again were it not for some exemplary goal keeping.
The victory was Leeds’ fourth in 16 games under manager Paul Heckingbottom, leaving them 13th in the table, having finished seventh in the 2016-17 season.
Ian Holloway’s QPR ended the season 16th, comfortably clear of relegation but six points away from a top-half finish.

Millwall v Aston Villa

Millwall beat play-off bound Aston Villa but had to settle for eighth in the Championship table.
Shaun Williams gave the Lions the lead when he scored from the penalty spot after Henri Lansbury was adjudged to have fouled Jed Wallace in the area.
Villa, who will now face Middlesbrough in the play-offs, made changes for the trip to The Den and unsurprisingly lacked cohesion.
Visiting keeper Mark Bunn denied Lee Gregory a second from the spot late on. James Chester was penalized for handball in the area but Gregory saw his first effort saved by Bunn, making his first league appearance of the season, before the keeper then denied him again on the rebound.
Based on current form, we had a draw as our 1st pick with an away win as our second but none proved true as Villa produced what was arguably their worst performance of the season with one eye on their play-off match.
FC Copenhagen v Brondby IF

This was one of those easily forgettable matches as neither team really found a way to second gear after what was truly a promising start.
Kamil Wilczek drew first blood for the visitors after only 2 minutes but somehow couldn’t maintain their fiery start to find a second goal that would have potentially killed of the game as a contest.
Their leniency and labored tempo gave the hosts a chance back into the game and they duly obliged when Pieros Sotiriou found the equalizer just before half-time.

Chelsea were firmly in the fight for a champions League spot for next season after Olivier Giroud secured a 1-0 win against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. However their draw in midweek means the champions league spot is beyond them now.
The striker netted his fifth goal in all competitions in the 32nd minute to deny Liverpool the chance to virtually assure themselves of a place in the top four.
However, should the Reds beat Brighton on the final day of the season then, despite Chelsea’s results in their final two games of the season, Liverpool will be playing Champions League football over the Blues next term.
Conte had predicted that Liverpool could be tired after travelling to Rome in midweek, where the Reds dumped Roma out of the Champions League with a 7-6 aggregate score-line in their semi-final tie.
And, indeed, it seemed as though some of the Liverpool players were struggling with fatigue, although the visitors still created the better of the early chances in west London.
Chelsea continued to create, with the returning Marcos Alonso volleying wide late on, but there were to be no more goals as the Blues kept alive their hopes of finishing in the top four while Liverpool must beat already-safe Brighton next Sunday to play in Europe’s elite competition next term.

Sampdoria didn’t muster a single shot on target compared to 7 by the hosts. The hosts were resolute in defence and made the keeper work whenever they found themselves in the danger area.
The win over Sampdoria meant that Sassuolo are now safe from relegation in what has been a roller-coaster season in the Italian league.
